Excess Vascular spaces

Excess Vascular Spaces in the Dermis     See DX Path for details of the conditions below

Excess vascular spaces can be seen in benign hemangiomas, angiokeratomas and in other benign lesions such as aneurysmal variant of a dermatofibroma.

Stasis dermatitis will also show increased vascular spaces in a fibrotic dermis with overlying spongiosis.

Malignant tumours showing excess vessels and cellular atypia include Kaposi's sarcoma and angiosarcoma. Pyogenic granuloma will have benign endothelial proliferation.

Other tumours include angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia,
Remember also bacillary angiomatosis but it is an infection but looks like multiple pyogenic granulomas.
